Mizani Defined: Balance

Did you know that MIZANI means balance?

  • Mizani means balance in Swahili

  • Hair needs a balance of moisture and protein in order to be healthy.

  • Curly hair needs weightless moisture to help retain movement and bounce.

  • Moisturized curly hair is defined and frizz free.

  • Hair needs more than just moisture to quench dryness.

  • Protein is what provides the basis for hair definition.

In 1991 Soft Sheen and Redken Laboratories developed the original MIZANI brand that debuted with nine products. The collection offered holistic premium salon exclusive hair care and treatment products targeted to the African-American salon/stylist and their clientele. In 2001 MIZANI evolved into the L’Oréal Professional Products Division.
